Candles in the windows, lights on the trees, lights on the houses! Lights shining in the darkness! In the past year we have experienced a new kind of darkness—-businesses, schools, and church buildings closed, separation of friends and families. (Notice I said church buildings, not churches.)
Because of timers, my candles and Christmas lights come on like magic. When that occurs I always smile and feel a sense of happiness and peace. It is a good feeling, but my true peace doesn’t come from those lights. John 1:9 says, “The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.” Luke 2:11 says, “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:21 tells us this baby was named Jesus. Jesus is speaking in John 8:12 and says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
My true peace comes from knowing Jesus as my Lord and Savior. During this advent season with every twinkle of a light I am reminded of the TRUE LIGHT and that I am called to be a light in the darkness.
Twinkle, twinkle little light, I pray that all will come to know Jesus as their Savior and walk in the True Light.
